Mr. Besian Mehmeti

Besian Mehmeti founded BMA in 2012 after years of collaborative and freelance practice in architecture, urbanism, and design. A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture in Skopje, he has realized award-winning projects such as Scanderbeg Square in Skopje, the City Library and Theater in Tetovo, and a new Primary School in Skopje, recipient of the Annual Architecture Award in 2019. He was honored with the Prof. Boris Chipan Award in 2020 and the Grand Prix at BIMAS2023, with nominations for the EU Mies van der Rohe, Aga Khan, and ArchDaily Building of the Year Awards. Most recently, his international recognition includes the 2nd prize competition entry for the Muscat Municipality in Oman.

He has exhibited at the Venice Biennale (2012) and in New York (Visions of Green Urban Infills, 2019), and has been invited as a speaker at events such as Big SEE Ljubljana, SHARE Skopje and Tirana, Engage Skopje, and TEDxPellaSquare. Alongside practice, he has taught at the Faculty of Architecture in Skopje, UACS, and Tetovo University.
